Geography of UAE
The United Arab Emirates is situated in Southwest Asia bordering the Gulf of Oman and the Persian Gulf between Oman and Saudi Arabia.
The total area of the UAE is approximately 77,700 square kilometres.
There are seven Emirates, the largest of which is Abu Dhabi (accounting for 87% of the UAE's total area) and the smallest is Ajman, with an area of 259 square kilometres.
The other five are Dubai, Sharjah, Umm Al Qaiwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah (which is the only one of the seven without a coastline on the Arabian Gulf). Dubai, which has been catapulted onto the world's centre stage over recent years is of course the most famous, however other Emirates such as Ajman are growing in popularity.
